Reflections Fine Arts Program 2023-2024
GIVE STUDENTS CONFIDENCE IN THEIR ABILITIES TO EXPLORE IDEAS AND LEARN THROUGH THE ARTS!
The 2023-24 Reflections theme “I am Hopeful Because” will spark imagination and creativity in school and at home. Encourage your child to imagine, create, and celebrate with Reflections during National Arts & Humanities Month this October.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in preschool through grade 12 create and submit original works in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Students may participate in the national awards program through their school’s PTA.
Reflections Is…
Creativity expressed through the arts. The works are judged through a rubric by their creativity, originality and mastery of media, but most importantly on the interpretation of theme.
The PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance a quality arts education program and provides opportunities for students to express themselves artistically and to receive positive recognition for their efforts. It challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. Themes are selected from hundreds of ideas submitted by students in the PTA Reflections Program Theme Search Contest.
In 1969, National PTA started this arts program. In its 40+ year history, the program has allowed millions of children to express their creativity through diverse formats. Students can currently participate in any of these six Reflections categories:
• Visual Arts
• Literature
• Photography
• Dance Choreography
• Musical Composition
• Film Production
Students are encouraged to get a head start! Begin developing your own artist statement and create your entry. Have fun with the theme –“I am Hopeful Because” – But begin working on your Reflections entry now! You may enter as many times as you like, but please submit a new, signed Student Entry Form (ENGLISH | SPANISH) to each entry.
Reflections FAQ
WHO? Open to all Texas students with at least 1 current PTA member in the household. Special Artist Division for students with disabilities.
WHAT? Wonderful opportunity provided by the PTA for students to express themselves through art.
